The unconsciously
conscious in business

Back to service overview

A corporate culture is the sum of common values, standards and attitudes which shape the decisions, actions and conduct of a company’s employees.

Corporate success is defined by planning and steering economic objectives, but it in turn is greatly dependent on the prevailing corporate culture.

Shaping a corporate culture

The structure of your company and the values held by your employees give rise to a specific corporate culture. This culture is a repository of resources which can be used to boost the success of the organization. At the same time, cultural values in a company may get in the way of change management initiatives.

Shaping a corporate culture

This culture is a repository of resources which can be used to boost the success of the organization. At the same time, cultural values in a company may get in the way of change management initiatives.

If your company’s culture remains unconscious, it is something like a ‘blind spot,’ which can have unforeseen consequences. The better you know the culture of your company or team, the more effectively you can take action, motivate your employees and exploit the cultural resources of your business.

Business anthropology / cultural analysis

Business anthropology is a discipline we bring alive to assist on change management processes. As a science of the cultural other, anthropology has developed specific methods and unique perspectives for analyzing people and organizations.

Using field research, participant observation (see shadow coaching) and qualitative interviews – especially with intensive “immersion” in your company’s internal life –, we reconstruct an integrated picture of your company or department from the inside.

Our analyses chiefly help you to understand the cultural values within your organization and, thanks to the shift in perspective, may also highlight issues which you and your employees always considered “obvious” but have never been given concrete expression. They also reveal “hidden transcripts” which “unofficially” determine your employees’ conduct.

In this way, an anthropological organizational analysis produces a comprehensive description of the status quo and is the ideal starting point for the development of effective change management.
